Composer Club is enrolling its first cohort, starting January 2027. Over 12 weeks, your student will go from zero to a finished original piece — produced, mixed, and released on Spotify under their own name — guided by an instructor with a music degree, 20 years writing music (including commercial and video game placements), and 7 years as a certified classroom teacher. Limited to 15 students.
This is our very first cohort — intentionally small, so every founding family gets direct, personal feedback and ground-floor pricing before the program grows.

What You'll Learn
Twelve weeks, four milestones, one finished track. Every phase ends in something your student can actually hear.
Set up your studio & find your sound
Learn what a DAW is and how to navigate BandLab, connect and play the Akai MPK Mini keyboard, record your first original notes through virtual instruments, and master tempo, rhythm, and beat-making — while training your ear to name what you hear.
Milestone: “The Vision” — a creative brief for the piece you'll build.
Write the music
Major and minor chords and how progressions create emotion, tension and release, writing a melody or motif that carries a piece, and choosing the instruments, synths, and pads that match the mood you're after.
Milestone: “The Sketch” — a 30–60 second foundation with beat, chords, and melody.
Turn ideas into a composition
Structure a piece into sections — intro, development, climax, resolution — build energy with dynamics, tension, and automation, and learn to give and receive real, specific feedback in a guided peer critique.
Milestone: “The Rough Cut” — your full 2-minute arrangement, start to finish.
Mix, master & release
Balance levels, panning, EQ, and reverb, master your track for streaming, and walk through artwork, metadata, and distribution — DistroKid to Spotify — as a class.
Milestone: “The Release” — your finished track live on Spotify under your own name.
Every week: a Classical Listen
Each skill is paired with a masterwork that shows it in action — from Stravinsky's rhythm to Debussy's texture to Bach on Spotify — so students build real listening literacy alongside their production chops.
Intro to Music Composition
Each week your student joins a small group on Zoom to learn hands-on — writing rhythms, building melodies, arranging full pieces — using BandLab, a free browser-based music production tool. No expensive software, nothing to install.
By the final session, every student has a complete original track — mixed, mastered, and released on Spotify under their own name. Not a class project that lives in a folder. A real piece they made, own, and can share.
Composer Club is taught from a Christian worldview — we treat creativity as a God-given gift, and it shows in the culture of every cohort: encouragement over competition, and honest feedback delivered with kindness.

How It Actually Works
A predictable weekly rhythm, so students always know what comes next — and parents always know what their student is working on.
Meet live every week
Your student joins a live, one-hour Zoom session with a small group of peers — not a pre-recorded video course. They follow along in real time, ask questions, and share their work.
Practice in BandLab
Between sessions, students complete a short assignment in BandLab — the free, browser-based studio we use. Nothing to install, and every skill builds on the last.
Get direct feedback
Before the next class, the instructor listens to each student's work and gives personal feedback. No rubric dropped in a portal — real notes on the actual music they're making.
Progress is tracked through four milestones across the 12 weeks — The Vision, The Sketch, The Rough Cut, and The Release — all building toward one goal: a finished, original piece released on Spotify under your student's own name in the final week.

A portable MIDI keyboard controller — the only piece of hardware in the course. Plug it in, open BandLab, and you're ready to play.
